  1. Yes could well be as it is in a plantation that had a larch nurse crop that all got removed, highly likely that it got hit by one! Thanks
  2. So i think the 2 kind of match up like a bug or something has tried to boar into the tree. Its not from fencing as it starts at about 9m up on the tree. It might not be anything but thought it looked a bit weird. Thanks for your help
  3. Felled this oak tree today and it has lots of little marks almost like bug boring holes. Is this just the tree growing funny or is it something that we need to be worried about does anyone know? Any help would be much appreciated thanks

    Small! They are A series we have high end so 90ish hp but really could do with 110hp for pulling full loads like the one's i was pulling yesterday

    Filled the trailer up and still had a few logs left to that i needed to pick up so i just stacked up but the tractor struggled! And the other load was some very big bits of beech that was also very heavy.
  8. Making rails for use on the estate today out of Larch we cut this winter.
  9. Found these in the lakes while on holiday the fir being the tallest tree in the lakes. 58.7m in 2011 It's quite a tree along with a whole load more huge trees!

  13. Seen larch just starting to open up this week.
  14. Extracting larch felled this week to make space for more to come down next. The last load was a strugle for the little valtra, almost had to lighten to get out of the woods!

  17. Possibly but it doesn't seem to quite match up as there isnt any marks thurther up.
  18. Was out felling today and found a few trees with black on them and funny growth for about the first 8ft but i am not sure what is going on and wondered if anyone is able to help?

  20. Out felling with the Claas all the kit needed on the tractor and winch. Need to put the ladder slightly further over in the future!
  21. Bit difficult when putting a choker chain or strope up!
  22. We don't climb all ground based, so get the ladder out if we need the cable higher. And on this job it was more of a safety and just a little pull was all they needed to go over. The higher the point you attach the cable the better the pull yes, to certain point!
