  1. Anyone intrested in this birch burr?
  2. The wall has a lot of historical importance and all the flints were already there after it had disintegrated, so it is only topping bricks and some lime mortar. And yes no labour costs! The fence is also historic and is part of a bigger plan to get grazing back into the parkland.
  3. Today we were out felling a big holly so that our volunteer group can continue restoring the flint wall.
  4. Is it grifola? Been browsing the arbtalk fungi app!
  5. Found this and am wondering what it is? Its on beech and the dead side.
  6. Today's job was doing some scraping of our entrance to the yard and scrapping the stack yard. Then making a nice bank out of all the scrappings.
  7. Bet this one would be good but sorry not felling it! Just found it in the woods today and thought you would like to see it!
  8. We have been told to stop because the birds are singing quite a lot now. However if you do an inspection of the tree and make sure there are no nests in it, or for this time of year make sure they aren't building one then you can fell it anyway.
  9. I'll keep an eye out for some at work, but we do mostly woodland trees with nice stright trunks!
  10. Can't see it in the picture because i havent moved the barrow but there is a pallet at the bottom. We have been storing wood there for years now without any pallet and it dries out enough as it gets the sun in the summer.
  11. Just finished mine today not sure how much it will hold but quite a lot!
  12. A day's felling today.
  13. At least you only took out the sign and not the leg!
  14. Felling some dangerous trees on the boundary today. Loving the winch!!!
  15. Nice looking chipper how big will it take.
  16. Has anybody had any experience with a kabota m series 135 for forestry use? Are they any good ie are there any major issues that pop up with them. Our suppliers have switched to them and we are looking into getting a new tractor.
  17. Any preferences of types of softwood? We have a lot roadside, and what sort of price are you wanting to pay? However we are hertfordshire way.
  18. We have lots of green ash round logs avaliable, if you can find someone with kilm and mill. Unfortunately our sawmill is broken at the moment.
  19. Today we felled an ash pole that had been stripped out previously. It was a big ash! Split in half as soon as it hit the deck and still was a fight to get it on the timber trailer!
  20. Ok thanks for the advice
  21. Don't know ive not done it before but im going to dry it out and give it a go!
  22. I did post before saying yes you are correct. Think it might be on the previous page but never mind.
  23. It is about 8 to 10 inches
  24. Dont even need a close up of the end grain! Yes it is.
  25. I'll take one tomorrow. Thought i had but my phone says otherwise!
