One site we regularly work on had an incident a few years ago. We got stiffed for two car valets at £100 each. Thereafter, on any of their sites the car park we work in has to be empty or we'll not carry out the works on the day of operations and charge for the delay. This does mean that sometimes we work on a Saturday. They pay for the overtime, happy days.

Education is a two way street. (Pun intended).

Finally

Someone else had to fork out. So it's not just me.

That's one hell of a valet for a bit of dust.

I'm liking the bit about charging for the delay. Now- how could I build that into my next contract. :001_cool:

Issues- I like it

Were those compensation issues? or smack in the face issues?

They were compensation rather than physical.

If they were pleasant, I'd offer a car-wash.

If not - admit nothing, explain the situation, then if they keep on ranting just give em a card, tell em to write to me and I'll pass it on to my solicitor.

Never heard any more.

They also get very defensive when you take photos and pace out the distance from chipper to beloved BM

We are sub-contractors to the main site maintenance contractors. They know some of the folk who work on the site can be a little challenging and so were quite apologetic when they came to us with the original issue.

As it's a long standing and good relationship, we just worked the cost into future jobs. It's not a problem, it served as a good educative process for us and them. Ultimately we didn't loose.
