Anyone use Japanese tripod ladders?

I've got the 4.2 metre one,very handy for siding up overgrown tall floppy hedges,and trimming up large ornamental conifers.

I check it regularly for cracks in the welds and angles,but its holding together very well.

I've look at them but to wide at base for narrow paths. I use a TITAN REFORM Splayed base heavy duty 3. 3.48m closed, 5.62m standing, 7.96 extended great bit of kit only ladder I use bit of a swiss army knive:thumbup1:

We've never had a problem with width of base on narrow paths and we do lots of jobs with narow paths. Just stick one leg in the flower bed. Or use the ladder as a two legged job and lean it against wall or tree.

Man, those prices are mighty steep! Out here in the PNW, it's orchard country. I have bought Tallman ladders direct from them....for under $200 for a 12 footer...also have a 7 footer. I've never had a 16 (about 4.8 meters) but wouldn't mind having one.

we use the 3.6 ones,,brilliant, no more argueing about whos getting the ladders off the truck, springs on the adjustable legs are the only weak points,,,,,

These tripod ladders any good, looking at the 4.8m one and 1.8m one.

 

Is the 4.8m one abit over kill?

That looks a great bit of kit- How does it work with ladder restrictions at work- I mean how can you use tools on the ladder- is there a conflict there as a fall from 4-5 metres would be bad.

What do you do- clip in or just work free.

Frustrating when you're trying to do things right.

So what we're saying is you really can't instruct someone to use these to work from

We use a 4.8m set and a 3.3m set and they are wicked! As said already they are so light you dont hesitate to get them off the truck and use them! The only gripe i have is that the 4.8m are a pain to transport because of the length but this is only a small gripe as when needed they are invaluable. We went for the big ones first as we had lots of high stuff to do then got the smaller ones for the everyday type work - binned all the regular steps now as these are ace!
