which chain oregon or stihl

Stihl chainsaw seem to run smoother on stihl bars. I know that sounds a bit obvious but it just seems like other makes feel like there's more resistance (despite correct oil delivery of course). My theory is that the metals that make the bars and chains are selected to work best with each other.

I only can comment really on my 201 chain cos that's my saw,one stihl chain will last me 6mths but oregon will pretty much be done in 2 weeks.

Not the design really, just the cheap softer compound

How are you getting through a chain in 2 weeks on a climbing saw? Can't be hitting the ground and blunting it?

Used Oregon, Sarp and Stihl last year when doing some felling and both my friend and I noticed the Stihl was better, kept sharper longer.

Stihl for me as well. I think they hold an edge better and get a few more sharpens out of them compared to oregon.

I found stihl cut/lasted slightly better but use oregon (or rotatech) because stihl costs more than any improvement I could see.

Just clean lol,sometimes it's the crap in conifers or ivy, but every time you sharpen oregon great chunks of the stuff come off
