One reason I use Aspen

This Honda mower is around 4years old and well looked after by the owner, although he has never had it serviced.

He asked for my help when it became unusable, it would fire but die instantly.

 

Dissmantling the carb revealed this mess.

 

40 minutes in my new Ultrasonic bath (the old one broke down) cleaned out all the deposits, but revealed serious pitting of the aluminium. The pitting will not be detrimental.

 

The cause of the the problem is old petrol, which not only attacks aluminium but forms solids and absorbs moisture.

 

He is going to use Aspen in the future to avoid further damage.

well, obviously your idea of looking after kit is different to mine. if this mower was well looked after and never serviced in four years, how does that equate to being well looked after? :001_rolleyes:

I do believe gardenkit was taking the mick.......

 

The owner had said it was well looked after, not gardenkit :001_rolleyes:

I was indeed taking the mick, but should have used some quotation marks.

 

He only wanted the starting issue resolved, even when I dropped it back this evening he still insisted it does not need a service as "its only about 4 years old"

 

He also would not believe the extend of the carb problem until I showed him the pictures, and insisted that it could not be the fuel at fault even after seeing the pics. It took a while to educate him.

 

He has however converted to Aspen now, so he is not all bad.

True to my word with the new season upon us, nothing but Aspen is coming onto my sites if at all possible.

I've obviously mentioned it when quoting and had interest shown from clients as to the benefits, plus actual clients looking to switch their own employees onto it?

 

My big sticking point is still the Ecopar Diesel and the fact I'm desperate to use it and have clients willing to pay a premium for it, but if Kubota still won't approve it what can I do?

I'll not move away from Kubota reliability/performance for a fuel, but it's just so frustrating and I've given up trying now??

 

I know you were looking into it Eddie, but did you just hit a wall too?

 

Where are these stickers available? Plus is there a link anywhere that explains all the products benefits in a clear concise manner suitable to forward to clients?
