Just curious to find out how many files you guys use up, I often use 1 for each chain (15") but have been using some of the oregon multicut which seems to blunt the file quicker. :001_smile:

And is there any use for old files?:001_huh:

Tend to use a file until it no longer feels like it's biting nicely.... prob use 2 per chain.... they don't last long really. I've tried testing all the different files against each other and hard to see much of a difference between them.

Now advising people with Granberg ripping chain against using round files as the scoring cutters seem to dull files very rapidly!

Thanks, I've been meaning to post asking this for a while now but never got round to it.

I was surprised how quickly a file gets dulled, and trying to sharpen with a worn out file is about as much fun as cutting with a blunt chain. It's early days for me, but I reckon that at least one file per chain is about what I'm getting too, possibly 2. They're only 15" chains as well!

after sharpening each cutter tap the file on the bar 3,times & it nocks most of the filings out making the file last longer & cut better :001_smile:

Cheers chaps, that's the sort of gems I need:thumbup1: Though I've not been to a fast-food chain for quite a few years now, will generic supermarket straws do as well?
