I'm just about to buy a new saw but don't know if i should buy the 201 or 338xpt or t435 the only thing i am sure of is with the 201 its always got a good resale value the 338 is supposed to be improved. Your thoughts anyone?

I use a new 201t daily it has an upgraded carb and runs much better then when first on the market. A quality saw I say.

I heard a report the other day that the handles just don't stand up to use, anyone else found this? It's wasn't on one or two but quite a few saws.

The rear mount you mean Andy? I had to have mine fixed.

 

As for the general running of the 201...well to be honest it just seems to be getting better and better with age.

I get mine back tomorrow after having a new pot and piston under warranty. It was in for failure to start and the dealer said if it seems under powered then Stihl are replacing engines on the early models as a warranty job.

 

Will see now if it's a match for a 200.

I'm getting two tomorrow so I hope they are OK.

 

I know the 200T was/is a great saw but only for 12-18 months. I've had 8 or 9 over the years but never had one remain reliable after that.

Hope the two your getting are not early models , the things only just come out surly they cant be changing the engines already .
