A good point Rich2484. How many people know or practice this I wonder as I had to explain to one of the lads on the ground why I was leaving my new saw ticking over for a tank full before a bit of real work.

Maybe retailers should convey this to clients if they don't already, as I for one have never been told this when sold a saw. Maybe the person who told me was though.

I only use my 200 as there spare saws are in poor condition, ground and felling saws are the firms and in good nick, but just been offered another job with new saws. the 88 never comes out to firms jobs now

 

I really hope the new husky is brilliant straight out of the box

Very strange that one supplier can supply excellent saws when many others are having lots of problems!

 

How much tuning can be done on the 201 as you can't adjust the h l screws very far out from factory specs on a 200 unless you start modding it, even then more than a quarter turn either way and it will run crap or blow up fairly quickly.

 

Be interesting for any follow up feedback on how it's running after your given it a good slapping.

The fact there are a lot of different opinions on the 201 but everyone loves the 200 I would only buy the 200 but im keen to have a go of the new husky if it ever comes out.

There is far to much mixed feedback on these saws to call it hype.

 

Stihl has dropped the ball. To many of these expensive machines that guys depend on to make a living are not fit for purpose. They should be selling these at echo prices considering how they are performing overall until they sort them out, heck if things dont look up, they might have to just to shift them.

 

I have about a dozen 020/200t's. Not ONE has ever been back to a dealer under warranty. The carbs are so bad I think they are italian, but otherwise they have VERY few issues.

Picked up a 201 yesterday, i discovered there is a switch to change between winter and summer conditions, could this perhaps explain why some ppl find it slow to pick up?

From what I gather its a tuning problem, a lot of people have had problems that have been solved once they've been back and had it tuned. Only used Dick Leigh a couple of times, but was very impressed with the way they looked at the whole saw being worked on. Maybe he runs them in and tunes them above and beyond most dealers?

 

Will be watching with interest as I need to replace a stolen 200 :-(

I also asked Dick Leigh about 201 last time i was there.He had nothing bad to say about them..If he says they're good then that'll do for me.

We have had a few back, but sold well over 100, no more back than we had with 200s or any other Stihl.

 

Some people don't like change, not knocking that I'm just the same I'm looking for a new car, they don't make mine any more, and whatever I buy I know I'm going to compare it with the old one.
