i drive mainly around the city so most often its cars holding the tractor up! now theres a turn up for the books!

I drive our tractor quite regular and there are some people who will not overtake me no matter how straight and clear the road is.

 

I think tractors should pull over at every opportunity (highway code) when needed and anyone who doesn't is a first class plonker, having said that, anyone who has the chance to overtake and does not take it puts other drivers under pressure to overtake them and the tractor which of course makes matters worse.

that is so frustrating when you get someone behind who just wont overtake no matter how clear the road is... must admit when we're harvesting and hauling grain 10-15 miles back to yard last thing i'm worried about is how many cars i'm holding up... luckily the routes we take are quite good roads where cars can overtake.. main thing is to get there and back quick as poss so combine isnt stopped at any time..

And it is this sort of stupid, immature, pathetic potato attitude that winds non tractor drivers up to top pitch. I bet you are in the brigade who think that you are 'cool' doing 'traffic calming'. think this is a real grey area, i was told its 9 cars and over 3 miles you HAVE to oull over. how the hell you count cars whilst concentrating on the rd is beyond me!

Our local idiot who whould not pull over in fast track ended up parked up for

5 hours while vosa whent over it, i allways pull over and so does any body who drives for me. Last year when snow was bad went and cleared roads in

two villages they where comeing out of their houses cheering some of them still wave now

Imagine:

 

You're walking in the woods, the trail is very narrow so it's single file. Doesn't matter really 'cos you're on your own anyway. You're not walking very fast because you're a fatty. Somebody who's running is coming up behind you and would like to get past you.

You know he's there, and he knows you know he's there.

You just get out the way, no other options even thought about don't you?

 

Just because you're in a glass/metal box and so is everybody else does not mean that you're all not people anymore, so why not act as if you're on foot?

How often do you get the finger whilst walking through town?

Tractors from the 1st January 1947 must be a flashing amber beacon. An SMV triangle should be installed now due to the EU regulations. (this includes all trailers/attachments)

 

Some areas both VOSA and the Police are now checking Agricultural/Forestry vehicles as lights/mirrors/brakes/wipers....... must be legal and working if original fitment so be warned.

 

I drive a 40MPH version so we do not hold traffic up on rural roads and if we have six vehicles behind will move over to allow passing.

Some tractors are good for 40 - 50 km hr nowadays thankfully.

 

But (my littlle pony) with her mum driving a 7.5 tonner complete with hay nets, string and even tack hanging down the sides can drive at 25 mph for bloody miles.

 

I learned my lesson several years ago on a bank holiday monday, Pulled in with the combine to see how many cars were behind 104!! passed before I could pull out again.

 

Huge bollocking from boss for loosing escort vehicle Lesson learned.
