There are NO plans to require Operator Licences for 3500kg trucks

There are NO plans to require MOT type tests for trailers

Tacho's are still a nightmare if you want to go over the 50km

They also have sensors on the motorway that can record your axle weight as you pass over them, take your photo and them they can pull you over.

They also have an Operator Compliance Risk Score with a traffic light system where vehicles/operators are graded red, amber and green. If you are red they will stop you every time they see you!

They have no money and massive cuts.

Niether did I until I did part 1 of my Driver CPC and the instructor told us about it. and then a different instructor mentioned it on part 2 The ones we were told about were on the M6 and could measure axle weights on all 6 axles of an artic as they pass over.

They've had that in the Netherlands for years, it was quite embarrasing to begin with, as they "opened" the system they found about 60% of all the lorries they pulled off in the first week were supplying tarmac etc to fix the ruts in the same motorway a few miles further.

This is the best post I have read about the whole thing so far, so I'll go with this one! Cheers Ben!

Not sure about the axle weight sensors, mind. They seem to struggle to pull the dids over with a 3m high stack of scrap on a rustbucket Tranny, so this sounds a bit James Bondish!

Brilliant. Truth really is stranger than fiction. Love it.
