Just had word that an 066 Magnum I refurbed for a local customer that was then sold to A N Other has been stolen from him.

The saw was distinctive - full wrap handle, Magnum plastics and I think the Stihl stickers were Canadian, DEFINITELY NOT UK spec - if one comes up, let me know - the inner air box was newly fitted so may look fresher than the rest - sorry, no Serials etc

I use a pair of Stihl Tongs to pick up the rounds. And I split directly into a bogie. I fill a 1.25m3 vented bag in under an hour and dont even break a sweat. I bust my balls with plenty other things around the house and land, I dont need to add to it. Ive also had lower back surgery this year and got my neck due later this year. The constant bending with a maul to split, then to fill the bogie is actually slower and mind numbingly boring. I wish I had a good 4 way splitter and a set of tongs years ago,

Totally understand and yeah some timber is never going to split with an axe quickly. Sounds like you have it sussed ?

Just thought I'd ask? Neat set up there, you can tow around too?

Splitting with a stump,tyre and maul. Split, move around split again, lift the 4 pieces out and dump in the trailer or whatever. Or pop on the splitter, 12 seconds later you have 4 pieces you push over into the bogie.  While the ram is retracting you're already loading the next piece. 

 

 

Placing your hand on the end of the log is not necessary each time.

 

Id honestly go up against someone for 3 hours straight and see if they could remotely keep up with a Splitter without breathing out their arse.

Low jet one and half turns out, high jet one and quarter turns out, there should be no further adjustment unless there is something wrong with it.

What's better than having a brand new 395 on your bench? Having two!

 

Needs the full wrap kit, dogs, source the right bar and then it's ready to sit on the wall as a display saw.
