Well, I got the old bastard out today, never had it running as it is near impossible to pull over. These old bangers had a screw in the carb where you remove it, take the spark plug out and then pull it over enthusiastically until the fuel pisses out of the top of the carb. once it does this, you replace the screw and pull over the saw enthusiastically which I did and sprayed a bit of GT85 up the carb to make it pop helping the fuel along and bingo, lots of smoke and a running saw.

Would that saw date back to around 1985ish as it looks like the one my late father had around that time? Seem to remember that it cut really well, but that might just be my rose tinted glasses, the old man and i did loads of firewood with it.

The GT85 was to break down the old oil in the bore to make it easier to turn over and hoped when it ignited, it would pull the fuel through rather than breaking my back which it did.

Got two of these saws, one is a 1-40 and is 1960s 80cc with a lowered cylinder and a bit of porting. This one is the 595 and is 100cc but haven't done much work to it....yet! Around 1970s in date.
