have both very good and seriously bad episodes with the NFU in tha last 20 years, land rover got turned over '97 ,stripped of parts and tools etc NFU said tools of my trade not insured but my diamond tiara and mink coat that I had left inside were well covered ( if only ) but two years later the whole job got knicked , paid out £10 K inc for 3 1/2 yr 90 that cost £13K + vat new . They dont pay out VAT on top .We talk to our local man every renewal , NFU is a mutual no shareholders .

Dean,

Speak to Cameron at Trust Insurance regarding your plant insurance for the loader..

Trust Insurance offer a 'New for Old' insurance policy, especially for machinery like chippers, loaders etc. The premium is slightly more expensive per annum but still extremely competitive.

For example, my tracked chipper is insured new for old.. if it is stolen or FUBAR'd (technical term) then it's insurance value is around 12k presently, however in this eventuality it would be replaced with a brand new one of the same model which is currently worth 30k ish. The insurance for this is around £400 a year but I feel well worth it.

They also do specialist vehicles like tippers, and fleet policies if you have three vehicles not sure if they do new for old on vehicles though.

Worth a call anyway mate.. I have found Trust to offer much better value for money compared to NFU.. similar prices on premiums but you get more for your money with Trust.

If you speak to Cameron, tell him Matt O'Brien put you in touch and i'm sure he'll look after you.

I had a very nasty accident in my old 90 when working in Shropshire i shall not go into details but the 90 ended up in a ditch upside down 1.5 miles from the nearest bit of tarmac, I rang NFU claims line straight away and the service was truly profesional they arranged all recovery overnight storage and recovery to home address the next day.

in the initial few moments after informing the NFU the recovery firm started to hassle me with talk of 4x4 hiabs and who was paying, I rang the young lady at the NFU who politely but firmly told the recovery agent they were working for her and not me so don't hassle me.

3 days later I had a phone call to meet the assesor at the local garage to look at the 90 we had some friendly banter and in the end agreed a very fair figure for the vehicle he even allowed me to take my set of mud terrains off and replace with standard wheels provided i had it done before the low loader turned up.

9 days after the initial accident i had a cheque for the payout a totally profesional service I am sure i could insure the 130 elsewhere but i am a great believer in you get what u pay for!:sneaky2:
