  9. some good comments about this subject,pleased with my young fellow and experience combined with college tuition is the best way forward,if you impress as an apprentice then word soon gets around,would just like to see them re jig the sylabus and listen to what industry needs,after all as tax payers we are paying for it.
  10. new apprentice just started,college offering nvq trees and timber call me a synic but surely they are not worth paper printed on.Surely if they trained students for there chainsaw units etc the students would be a more marketable product to the industry.comments please arbtalkers

  12. trying to get bottom hydraulic motor roller off tw230,got hopper off top one a breeze bottom one cannot get standard allen key in ,made it smaller still no luck,now attempting to take main housing off,think got all bolts out but still wont come off any tips chaps?

  15. local offices are the best to deal with and you can speak to them face to face,no problems with nfu,except now wanting fleet insurance ,any ideas?

  18. practical work wins hands down,and by subdividing these courses down ,it makes it more differcult and expensive for employers and employees.Ive been in this trade 30 years and still learning practically wise from older and younger people.you can teach an old dog new tricks!

  20. for the work involved much cheaper and safer to get good second hand one,the hse would love that machine,also you would need anchors or butt plate or will pull back end off.

  22. Does anyone know the implications and what to do to change front mounted close couple pto chipper to standard rear mounted tractor.Is it a matter of changing the linkage set up,or is pto in reverse direction?Any tips cheers
  23. a classic original mint when blades were sharp,no stress so they kept going till they stalled or burnt the clutch out,ah thank goodness for technology
