We have had a great start, up about 150 loads so far. We had 2 frost last week, one was pretty good, so that has brought extras through the door.

My only issue is time to deliver, we already have a 2 week wait now,  due to other work.

Sales have been very good this autumn to the point where we're struggling with drying enough. It's hard to tell if it's the colder weather or, more likely, that we usually put up our prices end of September (and have again).

We've sold a lot wholesale over the summer which has been nice although maybe I'll regret it now it's harder to find timber. :)

Last week was well up on last year 26m3 and we had raised prices by £5 which made no difference.

9 so far this week, so it looks set to be a record year and everything we have crated up is drying rapidly in the dry breezy weather.

Oil prices are steadily rising and more and more customers say they are just using the woodburner.

No frosts for you yet?  We had a couple last week.  Nothing major but there was ice on the windscreens a couple mornings running.

We have had early morning grass frosts with the clear night sky but pretty soon gone with some pleasant  autumn sun shine .

Not had any here. Perhaps I should get up earlier of a morning.

Beating me. Did 24cube last week and 5 today. Our prices go up at the end of the month so that might quieten things down or not. Just looking at the last couple of months and 4/5ths of our logs have been in 2m3 loads so if the new rules do come in 2.01 m3 loads it will be and not losing much custom.

Biggest start to the winter for us, nearly 300 cube in the last 6 weeks and a few thousand nets of kindling, End of August/September has been nuts. First year selling softwood instead of seasoned hardwood and it's made no difference in sales at all. It's actually been far better as we are getting a different customer we've never had offering a cheaper alternative this year with the softwood.

I've held back on any form of advertising because as we all now in the South West timber was in short supply and this delayed our drying cycle. Fortunately we have had a few loads of timber well on the way with around 37m3 on the lorries and hopefully more to come.

Luckily as we have a reasonably draughty storage area with everything in crates, MC drops rapidly even in winter.
