just to add to the original post, i work with him, he is great.

he is ALWAYS at the yard at 6:55am (for 7 start).

he can fell big trees, awkward trees etc ina controlled manner.

he can think a few moves ahead when im up the tree and often when im about to ask for something he already has it in his hand.

the 3 years experience is out on jobs 90% of the time without the boss.

great with customers.

works like a horse

committed and loyal

what else can i say? he needs serious £££

I can't be bothered to read all the posts sorry.

I pay my part-timer €150-€200 gross

He is 61 with a life times experience and swings my 441 as though it was a feather.

I pay him for the experience he brings to our outfit.

He ain't no numpty, worth his weight is oak.

It's only when an employees is capable of making me money without me being there that they're worth £80/day plus.

If you two work together as well as you say you do, then you should be worth that plus a bit more for climbing.

I worked for some local companies last year and couldn't raise more than £65 a day, now i'm back S/E i earn more cutting grass and the last couple of tree jobs i did pulled in 150-200 for half a days work. Its turned into a mugs game IMO

I have my brother work for me on odd days and i pay him £100, regardless of what we are doing. And thats not just cause he is my bro either.

I cant see how anyone with any sort of overheads (mortgage, car bills) or responsibilities (children, mortgage) can work for £60 a day, working with timber in any regards is bloody hard work and i strongly believe a lad with experience and qualifications is easily worth £90-£100 a day. I'd stick £100 on a job if I needed a good chap on £100 a day with me.
