Lets not all start waving around the PC card. The first part of his statement is wrong, the second part is not so wrong. Now i'm friends with an ex-traveller who is a decent bloke and will do a fine job, but the vast majority of 'door knockers' will rip you off and leave your tree looking like crap. If they didn't then they wouldn;t have to knock on doors for their work!

I was'nt waving around the pc card i was stating a fact, i've just shown you're comment to a traveller friend of mine who calls around every Sunday morning for a coffee and a chat, he nearly spat is coffee out, what is an ex-traveller? once a traveller always a traveller weather you still live in a trailer or have moved in to bricks. And why is it that people think that all the door knockers are travellers and not just good for nothing rouges.

When we started a long time ago I used YP but found was run around by the public looking for cheap prices. (Could not compete with cold callers people)

Then on most work was from word of mouth as the business built up through honest hard work at reasonable prices.

Now vehicle signs and trade contacts. Local Councils/Police should do more to stop all the uninsured people in the tree trade.

I think all business should have a "Trade Plate" fixed on vehicles like taxis have so all can see who is legal and who is travelling around doing cash work.

You would need to pass a statute law making it illegal, :001_huh: currently the only legal requirement is Employers Liability. For the most part the HSE bring prosecutions for that offence.

good shout mate, theres far too much of that sort of s$ on this forum sometimes.

We do our best to keep it to a minimum, but it does sneak under the radar sometimes, as does filling in certain words with $ so they beat the auto censor. Luckily most manage to post within the forum guidelines :001_smile:
