I really rate my Ranger, but then it doesn't go off road all that much.

The only problem I've had is the LSD has stopped working. Everyone that gets in it comments on how good it is. I chipped it too, it now knocks out 148bhp and 280ftlbs :001_cool:

I also have a rusty old L200 which is a bit of a project. 2.0 petrol with a weber carb and msd ignition.

Landrovers annoy the tits off me.

They COULD be absolutely awesome, but let themselves down with crappy steering/locks/wipers/door fit and leaks etc.

If they kept the good and modernised the bad, they would leave the Japs behind.

I'm talking genuine work vehicles here.

Also, I don't think any Landy or pickup has enough chip capacity on its own, half of my working life has been spent running endless loads of chip in 110's and 130's.

I think you need more than one vehicle to cover all the bases, mind.

I find my Bentley ideal for pricing jobs, for instance.

I sort of covered my self by having some Landrovers and some Toyotas both have good and bad points. If you need to move 1.5 tonne over rough ground its got to be hi cap or 130. The hilux with a decent body is more like 900kg and I am not keen on auto locking hubs when you just want low box. Manual hubs are a pain ( you got to get out in the rain ) which would not be a problem in most defenders as its raining inside anyway

you mean the amarok? looks nice but same price as a landy and only tows 2800kg.

I was told that the new VW Anorak was there or there abouts the same cost as the "other crewcabs". My Rodeo has now done 220k miles in a tad over 4 years with precious little going wrong, a fair chunk of that is towing. Averaging about 33mpg etc. A very capable tool.

But I'm still a Lode Lane Fan!:sneaky2:

Hear hear.

I think that alot of the perceived problems come from people who assume they are buying something other than a dressed up old tractor when they buy a landy.:001_rolleyes:
