FTR im not slating alderwood, but replying to AA teccie, we all have to start somewhere, and as long as we learn by our mistakes and learn from others mistakes its all progress.

Alderwood, dont let me or others put you off posting your work, believe me were all in it together, please dont get disheartned by anyone of these replies, just take it as an oportunity to learn from those that have been around the block for a few years.

Good post. Every one of us has been in the position of putting something on here only to find others dont agree with our views or work methods. This is not a reason to stay away, but instead to join in the debate and learn from it.:thumbup1:

Hey it's a lime.. have you seen what they do to the street trees.... Actually we once did a test of doing three identical limes in a row all differently, with various degrees of hardness, in the reduction department, and three weeks later they all look the same.

And it's probably what the client requested, hey i'll do anything for money

I will always give options and consequences but if it's legal I will do it.

Doesn't look the best like but think it's too easy to have a go at people it will put other people off posting I almost didn't join incase of these things happening, with reductions it's hard to get a good picture too I've done good reductions before and took a pic on my phone and they look as good because they don't pick everything up, hope the lad isn't just going to delete himself off here. I think bad workmanship is sometimes down to the tutors I've seen people get pushed through courses because they yes men to the tutors or because the dole shoves them on the course too many people pass who shouldn't in my opinion

I found out last week that as far as "in tree" operations are concerned at merrist wood at least they are not taught to reduce, and its all deadwooding in the wood there, and nobody is instructing from within the tree, the students are given points from ground and as we all know, once in the tree the game and method can and often is a very different one altogether.

i agree with you paul, this situation is universal, and we are pumping out qualified but unskilled arbs. i just realised I said unskilled! thats implying we arbs have a skill! which is not so according to the AT forumers!:001_tt2:

Somebody please get up the flipping tree and teach the job.
