Going forward, I need to organise this, who do you use or recommend?

I got a Disco 4 and a toy car. So I'd go personal rather than vehicle based. I did wonder about a family policy but there are 4 addresses for us all!

I have cover for the Landrover as an option with the insurance, lot cheaper than a year of AA and AA/RAC were funny about old vehicles. Luckily haven't tested the quality of service.

AA family cover £209, it's 4 person not vehicle specific.

Think NFU still throw in green flag as part of their commercial insurance.

Green Flag did a good deal for me last year but with my car vehicle going over their age limit this year went with the add on to insurance policy. Left RAC for Green Flag before cos they wanted more than I paid to insure it.

I am with Auto Aid and it is personal cover so will work for any car/van/bike.  Covers my wife free of charge also and cost just £65 per year.

Not had a lot of need for them in recent years but I think they have rescued me once and it was fine.  They just use a local garage of course, they don't have their own vehicles - it is just an insurance policy in reality.

Cover is pretty comprehensive including home start and recovery anywhere in the UK.

I’ve got an offer from AA at the minute for personal cover for £180.

£75 of that is commercial for the Transit, which they recovered no problem in the past when the fuel injector pump went.

That’s for roadside and relay, I don’t bother with home start.

The problem is at renewal time they seem to double the price whether I’ve used them or not.

Yes I used to swap every year, now it's an addition to car insurance.

Another for AutoAid. Works pretty well and includes home start / home cover for any vehicle for me and the wife.

I've stopped bothering with breakdown cover.

Often all they do is subcontract the work to local garages.  You get to the same position by cutting out the middle man, going on google maps and finding a local garage or recovery service that will come and collect the car and take you to a garage. Then get a taxi home.
