Tonight I arranged to park up with a mate of mine who a haven't seen for a while, plan was, park up in the carpark of the heritage railway go to the local pub for some food and a few beers then back to the vans and move on in the morning, get there and there's three motorhomes parked in the carpark with the residents (read fecking idiots) blasting out music, luckily my friend is a regular at the pub so we've parked on their carpark, are these people wired up properly? They'll no doubt be on social media tomorrow saying how unfair it is we are always getting moved on. Ranting and dumbfounded.

It is not getting better, can't make out where it will end.

Been on two walks recently, one we couldn't go any further as two wooden bridges hadn't been repaired for 2.5 years. Again today...a bird hide blocked off with a wooden barrier because the wooden walkway had a few planks missing....great, lets spend £10 on stopping access rather than fixing it so everyone can use it and enjoy it.

Not looking good for the future if this is the best we can do.

The town of Dingwall, north of Inverness has the shortest and most northerly canal in the UK. (basically the river was straightened out and deepened)

At the bottom of the canal was an old footbridge, but it was deemed unsafe and blocked off by the council in 2017.

After 2 years there was no progress, the council didn't seem interested in replacing it.

The family who run the local sawmill (which makes fenceboards and WoodBlocX) stepped up and bought a new bridge, and had it installed. For the community, and named in honour of their son James who died as a young man. Fair play to them :beerchug:

Attribution: unknown (Greenhill street  in Dingwall looking North) Roberts’ Bridge Unlike Venice, Dingwall has few bridges crossing expanses of water. The oldest one, a small, stone...

Fwiw lots of infrastructure for camper-vans in France.

Scotland has also, some of the French Aires I've parked on are not only cheap, some even free are second to none. Most of Europe are way ahead of the UK, they welcome people spending in the local economy.

There are a lot of independent pharmacists. Maybe people would take drugs (like drink) in sociable pubs if those pubs could afford to trade.
