In France, the Ford Raptor sells for €45k but has an eco purchase tax of €60k due to it's high CO2 rating.

The government has effectively killed large or performance engine ownership for all but the rich.

Right so going to apply to all OK.

So currently road tax is 350 a year I think.... is it this that's going to rise a lot?

In fairness I think dc pickups are shite but it's good for when I go to site with just a tracked chipper and 3 of us.

Would it be cheaper tax etc just running a disco 4 now then?

Isn't this more to do with capital allowances - i.e. what amount you can put through the books when you buy a vehicle for business use?

Last time I looked it was something like 6% you could put down as opposed for all (?) with a van.

I suppose annual tax we'll all get screwed with most vehicles.

Pretty sure in the last few years you could near enough fully allow all capital down for tax... hopefully mines already been 100% put through 😆

This will apply to capital allowance so you cannot offset purchase against your £1m allowance.

The biggest issue is benefit in kind taxation (BIK). If you run a pickup at the moment you pay no extra personal tax. From april they will be treated like a Company car so you'll be paying £3-4k per annum (transitional rates for vehicles purchased before April 25).

It seems the vast majority of people are unaware if how big a hit this will be. Going to be some big shocks in April.

Apparently also VAT not reclaimable on a car, so the double cab is going to be an even more expensive option after that.

Looking around, it's been a subject for a while as HMRC tribunal ruled last year that vehicles with more seats are not primarily for carriage of goods.

I'm just going to have to keep my defender hard top going, which I obviously only use for tree work.

When an employer provides their employees with company vehicles for private use, the tax treatment...
