I would say for people I know with double cabs the split is probably pretty even between people like Dave who really need one and vanity tosser trucks.

Sign written plumber? FFS, what a shite vehicle choice.

The farm and forestry boys properly use them, so do a lot in the construction game.

They NEED 4x4, decent towing and safe tool storage.

Crew/family space is a must as well sometimes.

Yes, a single cab would probably work for some of them.

A king cab would work for a lot more.

For the other half they are just cock extenders.

IT guys wanting to prove they are real men.

It’s THEIR choice though, and as has been pointed out, they are already taxed to buggery on 33mpg.

This government policy is mental.

There must be a better way of deciding who is using it as a dodge and who isn’t.

Spot checks by inspectors.

If you can’t jump in it wearing muddy boots and it hasn’t got a towbar, crack on.

Otherwise leave people be, and address the real issues like the thousands of boat people streaming over here from war torn Albania.

100% spot on Mark

What is hard to fathom is the animosity towards people genuinely using them from members of an arb forum 🤷‍♂️

On vehicles, I have recently fallen in love with this.

Available in city car and rural utility trim. Nine grand new, max speed 28 mph, range apparently 43 miles. Watched a video of a bloke driving one round London. He was struggling to do 9 mph up a hill. No radio. Windows don't even roll down. The left/right door panels are the same and the front/back bonnet/boot panels are the same. You could probably charge it from two solar panels on the roof of the garden shed in which you keep it. Lovely. Just lovely.

Not seen one in the wild here yet but I'm relatively rural.

I tried to convince my mum to get one to drive 4 miles to the shops twice a week. She could charge it off the solar system on the garage. Instead she spent four times as much on a hybrid that only charges off the petrol engine in it. She might want to go from Suffolk to Edinburgh at any moment you see and the three other internal combustion vehicles here weren't enough for that.

As part of a fleet, why wouldn't you have one?! Probably park three of them in a standard space.
