Pear wood any good?

I’m about to remove a quite large fallen pear tree. Is it worth keeping trunk sections larger in the hope someone will have them

Good for carving are holds good edge.

I’ve sold a few bits to wood turners. It’s not the most interesting timber but if it has a bit of pattern and varying colours, season it for 3 years plus and it should have some value

I believe it's used in making violins, maybe some other musical instruments. Of course violin makers are harder to find than wood turners so may not be an easy sale...

I read something online about  commercial pear wood plantations in italy as the wood is in demand, but I think it it was "swiss pear" which is  not actaully pear but the Wild service tree.

Fell it, mill it. Sticker it. Store it on your premises for 2-5 years and you might make a hundred quid. You could retire.

Where in the country are you if its big enough to mill a few boards from I would be interested the Pear wood I have is quite nice ,a pale colour with a pink tinge nice I think
