I was on the edge of my seat waiting for them to go over a weir or be swallowed by a carp or some other catastrophe, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Quite a big brood !  Allows for predation  . Crows , Magpies , foxes etc etc.  If there are 5 left in 3 weeks it will be good going .

Looks like they’re in a zoo or something.

Some mothers are really smart about where they raise them, others really stupid.

My guess is this is a smart one.

I once saw about 7-8 all swallowed whole and live by Seagulls !!!!☹️
