Transit Insurance

I have 3 Transit tippers insured with Direct Line. I find them consistently cheaper than anything that the comparison sites produce.

Like their owner, the trucks are not in the first flush of youth (2008, 2011 and 2013).

All with 3 named drivers and limited to 7000 annual miles, carrying own goods (firewood logs, they’re mine until they’re tipped).

Latest renewals in the past month were £308 and £366, both up around 50% on the previous year. The other was £313 back in August, so who knows what it will be at renewal?

Luckily I’ve never had a claim, so can’t comment on the level of service.

NFU are good, but it would be like getting a 10 dollar blowjob from a 1000 dollar hooker.

I don’t need their level of service.

I don’t need breakdown cover, legal cover, membership of the United Nations etc.

I want a cheap quote for a cheap old van that doesn’t travel very far or very fast.

Adrian Flux called me yesterday to discuss my quote, which I told them was unacceptable (It was double DL’s renewal quote at over £800).

They said they would see what they could do.

They then told me I had 2 claims in the last 3 years (I have none), and that I had owned the truck since March last year, rather than 2007.

They then adjusted the quote to £1600.

How do these people make a living?

Several other companies have kicked off with ‘What’s your best quote so far?’ then got arsey when I won’t tell them.

Hastings Direct were unable to give me a quote at all.

Direct Line’s 50% increase is looking more attractive every day!

Be thankful it's a Transit not a Land-Rover!

"We are unable to renew your insurance" is becoming fairly common, and for some models I've heard of premiums increasing from a few hundred to £16,000 per annum. The latter tends to be for the pointless "school delivery system" models like the RR, Velar, etc, but to the insurance computers unfortunately the proper Land-Rovers are all the same.

The future does not look very promising!

Cmon, you just lie and say I think the Mrs said it was...., you'll never be a used car salesman at this rate!.

Did you ask the NFU.

Just spoken to the local NFU office.

£467.

It’s a bit more, but I know them there so I’ll probably go with it, knowing the cover is bomb-proof.
