Don't worry, Northumberland Park Authority have a clear handle on the situation and have already concluded that it was felled on purpose rather than accidentally.

 

Northumberland National Park Authority officials believe the tree, known as Robin Hood's Tree, was "deliberately felled" and asked people to stay away.

More concerning than the park authority comments is the talking heads on telly that keep saying it would take hours to cut down with a chainsaw!

Maybe the person who felled it was hoping it could be blamed on storm Agnes, tree blew over innit

For once it looks like the assailant could handle their weapon relatively competently.

 

These sorts of jobs are usually a right mess of curved cuts until the trees finally gives up!
