Cash might be king, but undeclared cash can’t pay your mortgage, bills, car etc.

My partner briefly worked in hmrc investigations and if they get a whiff of you they are relentless.

My last accountant was once a senior tax inspector he always paid me in cash 😏Passed away last year brilliant chap new the ins and outs of everything.

Think I'll throw a little hand grenade in here.

I hardly think HMRC are as we speak tracking down IP location of anyone who has talked about taking cash and not declaring it here as a  screen name is not a big deal to those guys....

What I will say is if we were discussing nurses, doctors etc pay and where does that come from ? it's a poor excuse " yeah a bit of cash will be fine"  the money has to come from somewhere ?

I have a good accountant who I trust gets me the best "deal" which gives me the right to whinge if I don't get my public services. Those of you who do not play the game makes the "game" harder and have no right to complain ?

Should have said of course that as already mentioned paying in cash with the correct paper trail is 100%

The game is made harder not by the minions at the bottom but rather those manipulating the rules from above to think otherwise is very naive. Since 15/16 ( I know the exact figure due to a recently concluded 4 year Hmrc investigation) I’ve paid £271k personal tax into the system I’d say that is more than playing the “game”. I’ll take a bit of cash all day long if the opportunity arises.

Make payments only in blood diamonds or cocaine, it saves a lot of hassle.

If payments were still only in gold and other precious metals the country wouldn’t be in half the mess it is currently.

That’s a staggering amount of money to have paid in tax for a working man, I could retire on that, seriously! I now wonder how much I’ve paid.

I’ve no idea how or where he gets paid, or his tax affairs, would £1.5 million sound about right?

Guys it’s not at all as hard to pay that amount of tax if you are in the right environment or industry . Over the 7 year period I mentioned give or take the payment on account crap it’s about £38k a year. I know full time contracted sat divers who are paying out 70-90k a year in tax. This is the reason many are choosing to pursue their trade overseas etc. If you think about it up here in SNP progressive tax land it’s 42% after £46300 plus your NI so easy over 50%, go above the next threshold and you start to lose your personal allowance and it’s even more as a percentage so nowhere near 1.5 million eggs in reality. I genuinely do not think people realise how hard we are being hit tax wise and all it does is literally keep working people down. I know talking to Andy he gets hammered for tax in Scotland even after paying his tax at source in Norway. All of the above is the reason I’ve literally took my foot right off the work pedal. The general public are it would seem very unaware of how little you need to earn before the system kicks into “ keep you down mode”

To a certain extent, how about this. We pay our tax and get to see a doctor, nurse or NHS dentist when we need them, even as a lefty socialist im beginning to think if we all kept our own hard earned we could choose how it’s spent, rather than paying for services that aren’t readily available to us. Obviously there should always be a safety net for those who are sick, but where does it stop?
