sadly the stalls always get hit at the shows, too hard to stop it all, too many people and too much small kit not tied down

It is shocking that this is almost just accepted.

Long ago I worked for a car dealership and was involved with delivering and collecting display cars from Country Shows and events. I was amazed that over the weekend the cars were pillaged of anything possible, floor mats/handbooks/locking wheel nut keys/boot nets/gearknobs.

Theft and the prevention of is a big topic on this forum, it looks like it will continue to be!

im not sure its so much accepted as just so hard to stop. such high footfall, so much stock out in the open, not enough staff, people already carrying bags. and everyone looking for cheap or free.

they try to watch but cant watch all the people all the time. the only step forward is either alarm-tagging all gear, or keeping most stock in the back of a truck not on display.

neither ideal.

maybe between us all we can come up with some future ideas for them all to use in theft prevention

Security tag everything and set up sensors at the entrance to the marquee. Just like a shop.  Although there must be a reason why such a simple idea hasn’t been instigated at a show.

cost.

and time, takes most of them a week to set up the stand anyway.

plus power consumption.

plus time and hassle to de-tag everything at sale.

plus the scum would just shove it under the back of the tent.

maybe we all just watch each other?

if you see someone shove gear in a bag, call it.
