I'm sure you're jumping to conclusions Mark, it's not like he's black.

there’s security for a reason

It is shocking that this is almost just accepted.

Long ago I worked for a car dealership and was involved with delivering and collecting display cars from Country Shows and events. I was amazed that over the weekend the cars were pillaged of anything possible, floor mats/handbooks/locking wheel nut keys/boot nets/gearknobs.

Theft and the prevention of is a big topic on this forum, it looks like it will continue to be!

Security tag everything and set up sensors at the entrance to the marquee. Just like a shop.  Although there must be a reason why such a simple idea hasn’t been instigated at a show.

Remember having a stand at the NEC at an engineering exhibition, someone managed to nick a large potted plant from the stand while staff were talking with potential customers.

saying that, did you see the size of the rack she had though?

if you were there you know what i mean.

I wasn’t there unfortunately and doubt I would ever go again to be honest…

Unfortunately those types always turn up at shows. I help a mate on his stand at the Game Fair, and every year a few stands get broken into over night. I think even a dog got nicked last year. Unsurprisingly it was the same, "Trotters, transit and caravan" scumbags as the ARB show attracts

I wonder how many are show thefts are done by people who've stood at the paydesk for ten minutes being ignored by the staff who are too busy catching up with old acquaintances and thought "bugger it"

The "professional" show robbers are altogether a different animal, definitely vermin.

End result is still the same, less of a show for the honest and patient visititors 😒

If they can lift 3 brand new top of the range quads from a stand overnight ( like at the royal norfolk show last year) and they never seen again, there’s precious little hope they can stop a climbing rope , a zigzag and a few carabiners.

Easiest thing to do would bolt down everything on the stands and just have a qr code ticket to pick up and take to the counter. Almost like ikea. Would take slightly longer to process but then the staff they have watching for theft could be put to better uses
