Best Tipper Option For Arb

Opinions Please: What are you finding best for a chipper truck doing Tree / Arb work and with some Grounds Maintenance:
4x4 Tipper or a Van Tipper?
Also.... Please State why in the comments.

I’ve actually got a DC, but a single cab with proper bulkhead lockers is a better option.

I’d really like a 4x4 King cab tipper next, but it means a 40% volume loss compared to the Tranny.

But then the payload goes down because of the extra weight of the 4wd system 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

But if you could have that as a 5 ish ton, with no licence restrictions (how it should be!), then yes, as described with the highest power option and 3.5 ton towing👍👍

Horses for courses-I am pretty rural where I live and so is 80% of my work, so I’m in the process of getting a tipper built for my extra cab Hilux. If I lived in a town or city then the chip capacity would be much too small, so definitely a transit/daily would be the best (personally I prefer the double cab, d safe dry storage for tools & still plenty of chip space).

 

Iveco do a 4x4 daily which looks ace, but again once you had tipping gear on it you probably aren’t far off 3.5t (if you’re worried) and it’s still a big bus, so wouldn’t realistically be a great option.

You can’t really ask which is better, 4x4 tipper or van tipper! Every situation is different, different people have different types and areas of work and therefore have different needs.
Perhaps someone is purely domestic tree work- and a van tipper is ideal. Rough terrain access not needed, extra load capacity for the van tipper because all the chip has to be removed each time…

Or perhaps someone is mainly rural work, and most of the time they chip and spray, maybe sometimes needing to chip into the back of a 4x4 tipper. They’re 4x4 helps them to get where they need to be. 
Or maybe someone is a mixture of both - like me! I have been running a cabstar tipper as our main vehicle and then also a Ford ranger tipper with winch as a secondary chip truck/vehicle for off road jobs. Unless you’re going to have both, or unless you are purely doing one type of work - one truck does not cover all bases.
