All traffic management I have used never do site visit always street view it and take through what I need from them.

Surely spec for quote will state what traffic management is needed.

"Cut all tree branches back from obstructing streetlights along footpath in front of Pope’s"

This is all i got given. Not exactly very informative! it comes off a tree report thats been done and passed along various channels and when it gets to me its the basic tree work spec only.

Its for a local authority.

My thoughts were either single lane closure or stop go boards.

Lane closures is always around £1000 here.

I havent read that link that was posted up, will do shortly.

Thanks for all the replys!

If it's local authority chances are the quotes will be looked at by a procurement department with no knowledge or interest beyond what's the lowest quote. Does it specify to include your TM plan? If not they'll just go for the cheapest with nobody considering viability or legality of TM set up. Go with what you're happy to put your name to and if someone undercuts you with an unrealistic plan let them take the hit on sorting it out, might thin out the competition for the future.

no they dont ask how, just provide a quote. Obviously i need to do it right as a) im liable and b) its my reputation also on the line if i cock up or anything was to go wrong.

Tbh id rather lose out on cost than cowboy it.

I would think you are correct that they just look at the cost and go for the cheapest. normally what happens when things are dictated by costs.

Cheers

Page 60 gives the info using stop go boards. Depends on traffic flow and speed limit.

Most TM company’s will often do the initial recommendations for free from my experience. If they involve large scale road closures or big diversions then they may want money upfront for the drawings.
