stop go signs

Not sure if this is the right section so if not please feel free to move accordingly

I need to quote for clearing around street lights, 8 in total along a pretty quiet road.

Now i am wondering if as its a pretty fast moving site ( going to take 10-15 tops , probably less) per light so i need to get the whole road length that i am working on sectioned off or can i use 2 guys with stop go boards, like when the drain clearance guys suck out the drains?

Thing is i am competing with other firms, so i dont want to go the whole big site route and they go with a couple of guys and end up been massively over on the cost if i am allowed to use a more simpler version. Like wise i want to be correct!

I can get in a traffic management company to advise but they want £150+ for a visit. Not a problem if i had the job but as only tendering at this stage i dont want to to be spending when i may not get the work!

the work starts about 30 m or so from traffic lights, goes down towards a gentle bend, in total about 150 m (measured on google maps) .  Always good visability for 2 guys with stop and go boards.

The road is st Marks road, Binfield, Berks. from the London road Junction upto and just past the first bend.

Ive alo uploaded a picture to help.

Any advice welcome.

Many thanks

i will do, just wasnt entirely sure what direction to go! Admin lady looked into it a bit and seemed to think that if its short term ( ie 10 minutes at a time) that sometimes stop go signs are less disruptive and prefered.

So thought id ask the collective mind and experience on here!

Cheers

Stop/Go boards are ideal if you have the manpower free to operate them as they allow you to regulate the traffic there and then and not keep people sitting when there's no need.

You can also have the 'system' set up as quickly as you can unfold a couple of signs and lift the board.

If the control area is short you could easily get away with a sign at each end and one board in the middle.

However, you initially need to check if there's any specific control measure specified in the job description.

All traffic management I have used never do site visit always street view it and take through what I need from them.

Surely spec for quote will state what traffic management is needed.

Agreed on point one. The local firm I use work from street view +/- local knowledge. Never been asked for a site visit/quote fee. On point two I'm sure a lot of customers, certainly domestic ones, don't have a clue/don't care what TM is used. Any customer who wants to cut cost by dubious or zero TM does not get the job done by us.

I am think its not domestic customer if street lights have got to be cut around.

Can you not just work between two trucks with beacons on always go on near me by utility companies.
