So iffen we are hitting Birmingham about 19:00 on Sunday, travelling South(from oops Nth) through to Droitwich Spa, is it worth taking the M6 toll?

Check the travel news on ya way, I’d use the ‘old’ road at that time on a Sunday.

I hate paying tolls but there is something about the m6 toll. When you enter it feels like this is what motorways should be. Wide lanes, free flowing traffic. It's not very long and probably only saves 10 mins, but worth it.

Well we made it without any mysteries or traffic jams, virtually no LGV's, light and well behaved car traffic, a couple of free flowing 50 mph restrictions(well north of the M6 Toll), all-in-all a complete change from the absolutely horrendeous traffic I remember from passing through Birmingham on the same M6-M5 run some 20 years ago(though that may have been during the working week)

And just over 50mpg from the Rav4, sitting at an indicated 65 to Carlisle then 75mph on active cruise control, which is truely astounding from a large heavy petrol engined 4*4

Cheers all

Mth.
