Trouble is that they have left it a year late, that unseasoned timber will be ready to burn this time next year unless it is dead wood standing.

I really don't get this "Free" thing....just offer a bit of beer money, surely a truck full of green wood will cut up to a few cube and is worth £40 in its green state....that's how my last 8 years have been, that a a good deal on low price servicing for a load of wood.

I’d be wanting 40% of current seasoned prices. Give it a year and that will seem dirt cheap.

The brass necks displayed these days is unbelievable. I can only assume it aligns with the mollycoddled reliance on a whole raft of benefits and the entitlement that seems to come with it.

I’ve said I’ll keep the in-laws and my sisters father-in-law in firewood for the rest of their days. Unless it’s family everyone else can either pay or pay in kind.

Yep I put mine up this year and there is no haggling over price it's take it or leave it, there will be one lad ringing up who all ways has to haggle and he will mention mates rates but that is no longer availableb as well, I know the lad who has the garage where I get my fuel and have done for 40+ years, but n don't get mates rates on petrol n diesel of him,  the brass neck of some people is beyond belief at times and believe it or not I still have a electric, gas, council tax bill to pay and my pint of milk and loaf of bread are the same as everyone else's,

I'm more of a bartering man and have reduced or done servicing of kit for free but let the guys shifting the timber off the van get a drink out of it as well. That way the owner and the lads doing the heavy lifting both benefit.

Some Joe on the street perhaps has less to offer and has higher expectations!
