Russia have blown the dust off the old D-74 122mm gun from the 1940s and are shelling Ukraine with those . Running short of modern ordinance ?

Err, no. It's his own decision to use the old stuff. Retro is cool.

I heard a tale once that propeller airplanes were getting past a modern aircraft carriers defences easily, they anti-aircraft defences were built around attacks at twice the speed and couldn't cope with a slow moving plane... maybe something the same here that Ukraine defences are not quite expecting 75 year old technology? However... suspect using up old stuff first

Listening on bbc world service this afternoon reports that there is a regiment of 20K north koreans ready to deploy.

Russian men killed or injured fast approaching 700K . Confusion in the Kusk area . Russian fighting vehicle drives toward to Ukrainian tanks thinking they were friendly's . One tank scores a direct hit disabling the Russian vehicle . Russian troops disembark smartish and run toward Ukraine lines and are captured . Second Ukrainian tank finishes the Russian fighting vehicle .  Most of the latest Russian troops are poorly trained it seems .
