Replacing chains every hour is pointless . I don't think suggesting anything else is pointless . Have you never done anything of a suggestion ?  Just trying to help . Anyway that's told me ! 🙂

The chains needing changed every hour has nothing to do with the size of the saw. He could happily do that with a 372 or 390, too. I fail to see how "ger a bigger saw" is any help to the situation...

But hey, you quoted me to start with not other way round

I'm not certain but I suspect you have a versa cut chain if it's an Oregon. They're not really designed for significant cross cutting or felling as you might expect. Assuming I'm right and you have a 3/8 lo profile .50 bar then I think you could get a Stihl Picco full chisel which will cut alot quicker.

I may be wrong about yours being low profile though. Hence the need to know what's written on the bar.

If it,s a Versacut chain, what are they designed for then, not cross cutting, not felling,so what are they for?

I wondered at this as well, according to Oregon there are various Versacut chains for use with Versacut bars with a larger nose radius and several purposes. I doubt if it's Versacut as it doesn't comply with low kickback regs .

If you cut wood in a variety of environments, Oregon’s VersaCut saw chain and guide bars are for you. VersaCut has different saw chain types and an aluminum core guide bar that lets you cut wood – whether it’s clean, dirty, frozen, or green.

My money is on bumper tie links. I’ve got a 135 and it’ll ring up all day long (albeit slowly) with a cheapy rotatech semi chisel chain on it.

the other thing to do consider is where the bar is bent. Working fine on small branches but jamming in the trunk and being mistaken for lack of sharp.
