Whats the big deal with this wood? I seen a bunch in a log pile and looked significantly bigger than this. He also thought he was sitting on a goldmine, I told him he can just burn it for all I cared. :D

Got some in my log store . The heart wood is about 70% of the total diameter and dark chocolate brown , like walnut .

The one I felled was about a 16" dia at the fat part . It devides up quite early and some of the branches 6" - 8" . I think its turners and spoon carvers that like it rather than millers .

Roughly £10 a log green. That's the most expensive one I found in a few minutes search, commonly £1 for a fountain pen blank which is even more than mantlepiece per cubic foot.
