As well as softwood, I've made them from lime and poplar - they work ok. Cherry was rubbish.

Yip. But its marketed as a BBQ. Was a pallet full of them reduced from £10 to a fiver. Would have had a punt at £2.50.

I've made a couple with poplar before. Used some embers from the fire to light them. Worked well.

Unnecessary but would be interested to seem them burn. Think I would of had one for £5 just for cracks.

It's an eco grill but they still shrink wrap it in plastic!
