I wish we could all come together to talk about this sensibly rather then tit for tat.... as alwaysnits non tractor users vs tractor users.

Not constructive at all

They had the opportunity to ban Red diesel use right across the board and then have Agriculture claim a rebate back in relation to their farm size.

Thus preventing people with a few acres running a fleet of kit off it, and claiming Ag use for it all.

This would have reset things a little bit on all levels, as Tractors on white and no way to claim anything back will soon have guys looking for other solutions, they’re so thirsty.

Those simply farming wouldn’t be penalised at all.

There are no "grey areas", tractors/fasttracs/mogs can't be used to haul plant/machinery or goods unless plated, run on white and used  under Olicense rules. A mog/tractor/fastrack or correctly registered 4x4 truck/pickup with a pto driven chipper up its chuff is within the rules if working within forestry/ag/hort but restrictions apply. There is enough slack been cut for ag/forsetry/hort but not so sure about domestic arb.

It’s there in black and white mate. Category f is licence to drive *agricultural* tractors. Anything other than a narrow list of agricultural exemptions needs an o license.

Yes big grey area, but the government has made it easier with stating you must use white so one grey area cleared up.

Insurance we sort it and get right cover.

Licence well tractor is a tractor and drive it at young age.

It will be interesting what the out come will be when all the parts above us all have no idea.

Whilst a tractor is a tractor its the use of that tractor that defines which licence you need.

Your cat F licence does not cover using the tractor for non Ari type uses.

I have attached a conversation I had with a Barrister re this issue a few years back.

Interesting Posts from Eddie and Bob.

I'll say what we do (on a much smaller scale than before) regarding tractor road usage traveling for work in forestry.

When I set out from the yard to work in harvesting/forwarding then IMO rebated fuel is OK.

If I return by road without logs I'm OK.

But if haul timber using rebated fuel then I'm non-compliant and could be fined.

I can't speak for those whose business is in residential or municipal (e.g. roadside verges and parks etc)

If you believe I'm wrong, please say
