Dinghies they all add up and put more strain on our all ready stretched economy and services, My cousin was down south house sitting about 3 wk ago, and one day she went for a walk along the cliffs at Dover, she said we are not being told about all the Dinghies coming across she said there was dozens of them, now she aint one to get wound up about things like this, but what she so did wind her up more than i have ever seen her before, she all so added if i had not seen it for my self i would not of believed it, so she went back for another walk on the Friday and same again,

I spent 10 years living in Hastings, in that time the coastguard only escorted in a hand full of boats, your being fed media shit. A handful of immigrants aren’t responsible for decades of poor investment in our society and infrastructure by successive governments.

1000 came in on a single day last week. This is not a disputed number. That means 1000 homes are needed for them. That’s in a single day. Then when these men are settled they’ll drag their families over. The cost of this single days worth of migrants for the next 40 years will be staggering. There is no where near enough houses as it is. Where are they all going to be homed. 1000 in a single day but a lifetime of burden on the tax payer. I think you’re seriously downplaying the significance of this. And we’re not even talking about the legal migrants either. Trying to home the worlds needy is destroying our country.

As if these people are just going to be given a house, where from, total nonsense.

Where from indeed.

I never used the word house though, you did.

Edit; I did use the word house once. My mistake. Houses, flats, it’s all the same. They will need homed and larger families will need houses, it’s not like that’s unheard of is it?

I am not claiming that it doesn’t happen, I just don’t believe the numbers, and they are certainly not responsible for decades of poor investment in our society and infrastructure.

I don't think immigrants are destroying this country at all;- it's Boris the lying buffoon and his little fans, and a few other small minded people that say immigrants are destroying this country!
The country is largely run by immigrants anyway, when you consider who it is that mans all the vital services.

Sounds like your saying immigrants are destroying the country as the country is "largely run by immigrants" in your words.

Ummmm, I've heard that. I hope you're right but I think that's just the sales pitch.

The guy I heard it from is pro-rail (works in West Midlands transport authority) but not directly linked to HS2.

FWIW there are a load of other projects that could be done which would help freight logistics by rail, from what I understand:

- re-opening short rail links (like Stratford upon Avon to Honeybourne) which would mean goods and passenger trains could operate shorter routes
- a v. senior manager at Liverpool port told me a few years back that there is an issue with “overage” (the height of bridges above rail lines) on about half a dozen bridges between Liverpool and Leeds, which massively curtails freight movement.

So yes, HS2 definitely isn’t the be all and end all…
