Mot testing

The worst part is it’s all recorded in the MOT history check you can perform on the DVLA website. Some twunt listed my car as having corroded sills, I’ve checked and there is no sign of this at all and it has never subsequently came up on any further MOT since then. I tried to sell the car a while ago and a few folk said they were put off by this advisory on the history. Also the DPF light was on, and all this means is a service is due (on my Mazda). Another pointless thing.

Yep I get the feeling that people’s perfectly good vehicles could easily get devalued with an iffy unfair mot history

i definitely wouldn’t buy a car with an oil leak as could mean anything but struggle to see how this can just appear out of nowhere since very little miles done since previous test.

it was at a Halfords branch .they quoted 455£ for 20£ of parts+ labour

Jack, if it was Halfords then not surprising it's so expensive, a mate went to get headlight bulbs fitted and they wanted almost £60 for 2. Independent place 5min away supplied and fitted for £20.

My truck failed once, could plug the centre lap belt in as it was trapped. Tow bar obscuring the number plate. Tow bar was put on at the factory like that, where else could it go. And I got in an pulled the seatbelt out from behind the seat quite successfully. Different mot place next year never noticed the tow bar issue

I've had a couple of springs go and generally it is a fracture rather than rust that causes them to go, that and the numerous potholes/sleeping bloody policemen!!

Nice little job for the weekend!!

Picked up the new spring and I can't wait to do that tomorrow 🙄 🤣 The best bit is getting the spring compressors on and hoping they don't let go and I end up looking like sloth from the goonies... You can see where the fracture is in the top left of the first photo. The actual fracture is rusty as hell (more than just a few hours surface rust) so I can only assume it's been like it for a few weeks!
