Blimey! You're brave! I have an image of Mrs Khriss wandering onto this thread, reading it, emasculating said gunman, police finding your head in the shrubbery with the old meat and two veg in your mouth.

Remember, to be a professional you don't have to be good at it, you just have to be paid for it.

?

You're right though, and it's the same for many trades. I dealt with it a lot as a mechanic.

There's a wonderful bit in Rich Dad Poor Dad where Richard Kiyosaki meets an author who considers herself highly cultured and a good writer and isn't pleased that Kiyosaki's books (which she thinks are badly written) have sold better than hers. He points out that he's a best-selling author, not a best-writing author.

Remember also many have done the training and "passed there test"  so get a Driving licences be it cars/Vans/LGV's/PCV's Insured well most are! yet still drive like Cnuts and most can't drive to a decent standard and "Crash" often with fatal results.

Like on Docks many turn up in Artics and can't reverse and if do wipe out many other things so get escorted off the docks!

plus many have driven for many years be them old or young yet show them something like snow and will soon find a wall/hard place to rest in!

With any thing it's the Aptitude you either take things in and learn more things and move on becoming competent and safer etc at things or stuck at level one so are a Menace to many!

I believe you must know your limits and not to exceed them. I have just had 700 tons of ash felled in my wood by professionals as there is no way I would have attempted it. I will fell small trees on the other hand or ring up windblown branches. I have seen professionals make a real cock up when felling. Common sense, know your limits and plan the work

i often think these post exist from someone with a complex, who cares what someone else does if they are taking your work then your patter is wrong

i know loads of qualified tree cutters who are nothing more stick shapers,  poor reductions and denial of science angers me far beyond some prat smashing his house to bits

I am 44,  tree cutting and landscaping all my life ,and i never had any tickets or training ,how some one having 5 day course can  be better than me ? I do not say u dont need training , but u can train yourself ,using books proper videos ext. And another thing, I AM free man ,and if i want use chainsaw ,circular saw or anything on private ground  i will use it no matter what ,if i die or become disabled  of it, its my problems, all those mommy state  stuff and jealous wingers driving me crazy sometimes. However if you work on public ground and your mistakes can cause health risk to other people,  you  must be not only trained ( i said for 5 days which is useless without experience of couple years ) but what is more important Responsible ( I have seen professional climbers at work after heavy drinking night ,under prescribed pills. Some guys just so cocky i wont trust them even a handsaw) About responsibility. In my 15 years in Ireland,I never heard anyone(exept me ) said yes its my mistake, i am responsible for this ,always someone else fault! I belive this is modern world problem . YA about PPE , ITS MY RELIGION AS IT DEFNTLY SAVE LIVES , u dont need tickets or training to understand that ,u need RESPONSIBILITY AND COMMON SENSE isn"t ?   There i have Rant again, sorry lads for my not so good written english !
