Crappy delivery

The company needs to sort out who it uses for delivery.

Was told a date for delivery of winch. Told they would ring - hour before. No call and no show. Turned up 2 days later. Whilst unloading I pointed out it was not my package. He had delivered mine by mistake to someone earlier. Had to go get it.

Yesterday again told ring 1 hour before. Rang at bottom of my lane to ask if I had a forklift! No.

Couldn’t deliver so took it back to depot. Still no show today with my mill. Wife rang to be told they are asking for more money from the company as it will take 2 men to unload, not one. Very amateurish I am afraid

What company ?  Sounds like a bit of a clusterfeck what ever .

the delivery company that woodland mills used to go from Bradford to my home with my woodlander mill. if it took a forklift to get it on to the wagon then they should figure they need one to get it off. Ringing me at work to ask if I had a forklift truck at home was a joke.

if I was Woodland mills I wouldn't use them again

depends on size and weight !!  company sending probably went for cheapest option

The pallet with the winch came like this. The bloke yesterday said the mill pallet was too heavy for the tail lift and pallet truck

Yeah maybe, but should still be able to make an arrangement if they're a logistics company.

We had a customer a few years ago who wanted to collect a machine using one of their own wagons, which was fine but we don't have a forklift. Hired a Genie lift for the day, only had to lift it once so hand operated was fine.

Ask friends someone must have or know of a fork truck or loader. I've also been known to walk the local industrial estate knocking doors, always been able to sort a lift one way or 'tother.

 

Edit: last pallet I had lifted was by a local farmer with a tractor loader with a set of forks £20.

How heavy is it? Pallet trucks can (by design) lift full pallets, and tail lifts can lift/lower them. Pallets are regularly 1 tonne - is the mill heavier than this?!
