yeh Tesoros were ok  i had a spin off - lazer b3
I've still got my old laser powermax2. Simple to use. Tesoro and laser seem to be in the minority now with many using minelab. But in the 90's they were very popular.

Ive got a Whites IDX Pro. Not found much, or had much time to look but as we've been getting some drainage work done in the garden we had it out for an hour last night. Found a Musket Ball, a few 1850's to 1930 coins and an old Whistle.

As a yoof, I spent a fair bit of one summer on an archaeology dig and still find finding stuff fascinating!  It was hard graft, really interesting, fun and entertaining being with a bunch of like minded volunteers. Mostly quite well balanced and educated people and I'm still in to that kind of thing now. We shifted mountains of spoil over the period on a roman site near to Oundle. Long days with little or no breaks, 7 days per week as volunteers but with all the learning and help you needed on the subject. Really surprised at how much stuff came out of the ground - bones of animals from ritualistic burials, skeletons, pots, coins, jewelry etc and at some depth too!

I had a chap working for me years ago who was the other end of the scale in that he was a treasure digger, not interested in the context, only the value. He had pots and pots of finds at home, mostly of little value but I would not have trusted him with any gold etc - he did not see the point of getting permission either. He was the sort to give detectorists a bad name.

I also have a Whites Classic IDX. There was a US guy by the name of "Mr Bill" modding them and picked up the specs so did it myself.

They are a pretty useful tool and work at some pretty good depths. They don't work well on wet sand though, got a C Scope pulse induction for that!

Ive always fancied getting the Mr Bill Mods done to my IDX Pro but I hardly ever use the damn thing. :D

Ho straigh forward is the Mod? Ive seen some pictures but not sure what components Id need. I guess you need a steady hand with the old Soldering Iron? :D

Being that I have the Pro I believe it has 30% more depth over the IDX Classic. So might not be required anyway?

I know. :)

I’d rather have good second hand gear than new and inferior.

I'm looking forward to having a go, and Paul coming down to show me the ropes is a bonus before I go and spend any money.
