Is the wood not saleable.  How do people think this would this affect the equation

Ash is good burning wood and of course it’s worth money but not as much as you would think,it has to be moved, processed and stored and sold before you get any money for it,the owner would get minimum price for it but a better option which I use as I don’t do logs is get someone who sells logs just o come and remove all the wood if they want it which saves a lot of work which you would otherwise have to do yourself.work smart not stupid.

I have found that in the past people in this sort of position think Wow look at all the fire wood I am getting . Then asking the tree surgeon cut and split and stack etc etc .  The extra cost on the job for the client to have this done  is about the price of 3 loads of split and seasoned logs from the local log merchant .

Just had a better quote of £3900. Taking the wood and removing the stump.

If all the tree surgeons round Cardiff are watching this thread the next quote might be £100 cheaper ?

If you can get him down to £3’500 I would say that would be around the correct price to take down tree, remove all timber + woodchip and stump grinding.

I’m amazed that after all the discussion about it, you’re now advising the client to haggle down the price!

On behalf of the contractors involved, thanks for nothing.

Who said anything about haggleing down the price? I just said if he can get it down to £3’500 in my opinion that would be about right money for the job.
