How do you air dry your wood down to 20% ??

This is the main point and why most firewood is hardwood.

 

In point of fact softwood has more energy per kilo than hardwood at the same moisture content. It has a higher initial moisture content than most hardwoods and tends to be 30% more bulky.

 

I burn whatever comes out of the woodshed as it comes out. I fill it with what I bring home in the back of the vitara off jobs whether hard or soft but tend to not bother with willow or poplar because they take up too much space.

Feed in woodchip then the gas given off used for the CHP plant and the by-product is torrified wood (charcoal). Thermal oil heated from the waste heat of the CHP plant.

Really big, like a shipping container.
Then you still need a CHP?
And a drying floor????
Simple is a woodburner mate.

I'm an armchair fan of the resurge of interest in wood gasifiers.
I'd love to run a tiny power station 20-30kw 3ph
Can be done quite easily with enough time.
