I'm irrationally scared of the electric secateurs, maybe memories of watching my dad take feet off turkeys with loppers as a child left me scarred.

Yew is brutal hard wood, I think you have to saw it above 30mm really.

What’s even worse is that he owned a company that made prosthetic legs for turkeys.

to be fair. When I use the electric secateurs, I always have the idea that they were made as very useful torture tools. I mean they could very easily be leathal as a weapon. you do have to be quite sure that your other hand is no where near the tool when using them. though they really are good for big cuts like 40mm or so and lots of them.

Im the same about the secateurs puts me off getting them

Id be relaxed using them if on the end of a  pole though as then  its  safely away from fingers

Yes. but then if you use a chainsaw or hedge cutters, they are just as leathel if not more if not used properly so I think its a swings and roundabouts thing. Whatever that means. 😀

I've had the clip n trim for quite a few years, butchered numerous hedges (especially beech) back in to shape with it.

I'm a right rogue so I even have the saw dangling off the end of an elephants trunk harness, what could go wrong eh!
