Stihl combi with extension pole makes for awesome reach (over 3m). It is a pig to handle but for wide or tall hedges with a decent tripod ladder you can cut really wide/tall stuff. Without extension it is about 2m and quite manageable. J.

Have used a hla85 & they are good but don't think it would like thicker diameter branches that some more heavy duty petrol ones manage.

Suppose ideally need two trimmers a battery one for majority of stuff then a petrol one for more overgrown hegdes blackthorn hawrthorn etc that haven't being cut for a few yrs. Then  you don't knacker the battery one trying to cut oversized stuff etc.

Same as chainsaws different ones best for different jobs..

They should state max tooth  gap or branch cutting diameter, some do & it varies quite alot....

Today I just bought a KM 131 R with the adjustable hedge trimmer attachment and an extension pole.

I’ve put it off for a while and read different reviews and forums but in the end as well as the potential to add a chainsaw head when I can afford it, it was really the extension pole insert that finally convinced me as that’ll save me moving the ladder quite a bit.

Time will tell... hope I’ve done the right thing! ?
